Text description provided by the architects. Located in Hohenecken, a suburb of the city Kaiserslautern , the two small houses close an empty lot. A combination of prefabricated wood frames and solid wood board ceilings is used for the primary structure of the houses. In order to allow for a scenic view on a church and an old castle common principles for single family houses are turned upside down.
Living room as well as kitchen are located on the upper floor. Bathroom and three rooms are located downstairs. The layout is characterised by a central staircase which in combination with translucent polycarbonate panels separates the different rooms.
This detail also ensures optimal light distribution within the houses and creates fluid space boundaries.
